AUSI Snorkel Swimming Instructor

 

Role

The AUSI Snorkel Swimming Instructor is able to conduct:
•  AUSI Snorkel Swimming programs in enclosed water unsupervised
•  Supervise snorkel swimmers in open water under the supervision of an AUSI Snorkel Diver Instructor or higher
Note: Snorkel Swimming is using mask, snorkel, fins and a buoyancy aid to ensure positive buoyancy at all times.

Prerequisites

Prior to participating on an AUSI Snorkel Swimming Instructor Training Program candidates must:
•  Be at least 16 years of age
•  Be certified medically fit to snorkel dive by a medical practitioner
•  Be able to swim 200 metres (220 yds) unaided in no more than five minutes and then immediately stay afloat for at least 10 minutes
•  Have a current work place first aid certificate or approved equivalent
•  Have a current CPR certificate or approved equivalent
•  Have a current oxygen provider certificate or higher or approved equivalent

Training

The AUSI Snorkel Swimming Instructor Training Program is designed to train the prospective instructor to the key areas of supervising snorkel swimming, namely:
• Theory Knowledge
• Personal Skill Development
• Leadership Development
