Level VI Scuba Diver (Dive Leader/Dive Master)
The AUSI Level VI (Dive Leader) Scuba Diver course is designed to train divers to:
- Act as an assistant for AUSI Instructors,
- Organise and conduct scuba diving activities for certified divers, and
- Act as an underwater guide for certified scuba divers.
Note:
- To practice activities 2 & 3, AUSI Level VI Professional (Dive Master) requirements must be met.
- To become an AUSI Level VI Professional, candidates must complete a professional internship and meet the certification requirements as outlined in the standard.
Prerequisites
Prior to participating on an AUSI Level VI Scuba Diver course the participant must:
- Be at least 16 years of age,
- Be medically fit to scuba dive, and
- Be a certified AUSI Level V Scuba Diver or approved equivalent, and
- Have completed at least 25 ocean dives in varying conditions.
Training
The course has four components:
- Theory -
eight presentations, lesson reviews and test,
- Practical Skills -
four sessions which must be conducted in a pool or enclosed water.
- Ocean Skills & Scenarios - three ocean sessions, and
- Assessment - one dive leadership for divers
