Level IV Scuba Diver
(Deep Diver)
The AUSI Level IV Scuba Diver (Deep Specialty) course is designed to train divers to dive to 39 metres (130 ft) in open water that has direct vertical access to the surface during daylight hours with out the direct supervision of an AUSI Scuba Instructor.
Prerequisites
Prior to participating on an AUSI Level IV Scuba Diver course the participant must:
- Be at least 16 years of age,
- Be medically fit to scuba dive,
- Be a certified AUSI Level III Scuba Diver (Advanced Open Water) or approved equivalent, and
- Have completed at least 16 ocean dives of which four shall be to a depth of at least 24 metres (80 ft).
Training
The course has three components:
- Theory - One presentations, lesson review and test,
- Practical Skills -
one session which must be conducted in a pool or enclosed water, and
- Ocean Dives -
four ocean dives.
- All dives are to be no-decompression dives to depths of 30 - 39 metres (100 – 130 ft), one of which shall be to at least 36 metres (120 ft), another shall include skills assessment, and one shall be repetitive. No dive shall exceed 39 metres (130 ft).
