Level I Scuba Diver
(Supervised Scuba Diver)
The AUSI Level I Scuba Diver (Supervised Scuba Diver) course is designed to train divers to dive to nine metres (30 ft) in open water that has direct vertical access to the surface while under the direct supervision of an instructor during daylight hours. Training is valid for 12 months.
Note: This program is Module 1 & 2 of the AUSI Level II Scuba Diver program and successful participants can be credited.
Prerequisites
Prior to participating on an AUSI Level I Scuba Diver course the participant must:
- Be at least 12 years of age,
- Be medically fit to scuba dive
Training
The course has
three
components:
- Theory -
two presentations, lesson reviews and test,
- Practical Skills -
two sessions plus one optional session all of which must be conducted in a pool or enclosed water, and
- Ocean Dives -
two ocean dives.
- The dives must be at least 20 minutes in duration to a depth no less than four metres (15 ft), of which one shall be at least six metres (20 ft) and neither dive shall exceed nine metres (30 ft).
