Level III Scuba Diver (Advanced Open Water)

The AUSI Level III Scuba Diver (Advanced Scuba Diver) course is designed to train divers in navigation skills and to dive in open water to 30 metres (100 ft) during daylight hours and to18 metres (60 ft) at night with direct vertical access to the surface and without the direct supervision of an AUSI Scuba Instructor.

Prerequisites

• Be at least 15 years of age,
• Be medically fit to scuba dive,
• Be a certified AUSI Level II Scuba Diver (International Open Water) or approved equivalent, and
• Have completed at least eight ocean dives of which two shall be to a depth of at least 15 metres (50 ft).

Training

• Theory - four presentations, lesson reviews and test,
• Practical Skills - one session which must be conducted in a pool or enclosed water, and
• Ocean Dives - four ocean dives plus an optional area specialty.
  • All dives are to be no-decompression dives and include one night dive 5 – 18 metres (15 – 60 ft), two deep dives; one to 24 - 30 metres (80 – 100 ft) and one to 27-30 metres (90 – 100 ft), one navigation & search skills dive and an optional specialty dive other than another deep dive. No dive shall exceed 30 metres (100 ft).
